The Hotel Monasterio de Santa Eulalia de Totana host on January 28 the "First Conference on Hunting, Tourism and Gastronomy. Development of rural Espuña", organized jointly by the Association of Tourism Services and Espuña the Ministry of Agriculture and Water.
After the Board of Governors of the joint body, currently chaired by the Mayor of Totana, realized holding this conference at a ceremony attended by the mayors and councilors of Tourism Aledo, Totana, Alhama, Pliego and Mula, respectively.
The mayor of Totana and president of the company, José Martínez Andreo, explained that these days represent "a starting point and a strong support for a type of tourism with great potential but has traditionally been little explored in the region."
These early days, whose aim is to raise awareness of the enormous potential Espuña environment for this type of tourism due to the existence of a species highly valued as trophies by hunters, the Ammotragus lervia or Barbary sheep.
It also aims to emphasize the economic benefits that an adequate structuring of this type of tourism, taking into account the principles of sustainability, it can provide to local economies.
The conference will be inaugurated by the Minister of Agriculture and Water in the Region of Murcia, Antonio Cerdá, along with the mayors of the municipalities members of the Commonwealth.
Involve the participation of speakers from the likes of Juan Ignacio Rengifo Gallego, a professor at the University of Extremadura, Pastor Alejandro Gonzales, a graduate in Environmental Sciences and author of the first book on the Barbary sheep, or Manuel Diez Benito, Technical Director of Regional Game Reserve de Gredos.
For them, the attendees will have the opportunity to test the quality of game meat through a tasting of some of the pieces collected in the reserve which will be prepared by specialized chefs 8.
