Several entrepreneurs and entrepreneurs of the municipality of Totana have shown their interest in the imminent call for grants approved by "Campoder Leader" for 2017/2021, which has already been sent to the General Directorate of Agrarian Funds and Rural Development in order to that it be supervised and informed favorably to proceed with its publication, a fact that may occur in the near future.
The manager of this Local Action Group, Miguel Buendía, has held meetings in recent days at the City Council of Totana with municipal technicians and various stakeholders in the promotion of projects in the municipality belonging to both the private initiative and the entities sector. no profit.
This program consists of an allocation of just over 3 million euros, divided into 6 lines of action, with which it is intended to support projects aimed at training agents in the territory, improving employability and cooperation.
In addition, it advocates the start-up, expansion or transfer of micro-enterprises, protection of environmental heritage, promotion of rural heritage, tourism and basic infrastructure in less inhabited population centers, among other objectives.
These aids are co-financed by the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development (EAFRD) by 63% and the Autonomous Community of the Region of Murcia by 37%.
In the case of Campoder, the almost 110,000 residents of the municipalities of Fuente Ãlamo and Puerto Lumbreras and part of the municipalities of Ãguilas, Cartagena, Lorca, Mazarrón, Murcia and Totana can benefit.

Local participative development through Leader consists of giving the planning initiative to the local communities, which, organized in associations such as Local Action Groups, elaborate and execute a Participatory Local Development Strategy for a given territory taking advantage of its resources.
This bottom-up approach implies a greater involvement of the population in the solution of the common problems that affect them and a greater commitment in the actions they project, translating into an increase in local governance.
The projects that can be subsidized in these calls should focus on the creation of employment, improvement of quality of life, maintenance of rural heritage, care for the environment or gender equality.
The budget allocated to these calls is 10.98 million euros.
The beneficiaries of the Leader assistance calls are any individual or legal entity that develops an activity or is going to develop it within the Leader territory and is in line with the Local Development Strategy approved for this territory.
This program will allow to maintain the investment in the rural areas of the Region of Murcia directed especially to strengthen the agricultural sector and its transformation industry, sustainable agriculture and forestry, and economic activities in the villages.
