Five students of the University of Murcia participated

Five students of the University of Murcia have participated during this academic year 2016/2017, in a voluntary way, in the projects of "Educational Reinforcement" directed to children in situation of socio-cultural disadvantage and the one of Social Intervention with dependent older persons, driven From the City of Totana, under a collaboration agreement signed with the Service of Attention to Diversity and Volunteering of the University of Murcia.

With respect to the "Educational Reinforcement" project, a total of twenty students from 3 ° to 6 ° of Primary Education of the "Luis Prez Rueda", "Santa Eulalia" and "San Jos" schools collaborated in this project. Project three volunteers.

The purpose of this initiative is to reinforce the educational process of each student, trying to prevent and reduce possible problems of failure, absenteeism and early abandonment of studies, through the support of learning, enabling a time and a space to experience The school in a more positive and motivating way.

During two weekly sessions of an hour and a half duration each, and in the schools themselves, the students have received such educational reinforcement.

On the other hand, the program of "Social Intervention" with older people has collaborated two volunteers through the support in the different activities carried out, according to the program of the center, such as workshops of crafts, daily press, games, coexistence, cultural visits , Workshop of memory, gerontogimnasia, among others;

And which has also benefited a total of twenty elderly people.

The students who have volunteered are Noelia Garca Lpez (student of Pedagogy), Mara Teresa Tudela Costa (Primary Education), Mara de los Ángeles Gonzlez Aledo (Social Education), Kerly Dalila Martnez Mera (Labor Relations and Human Resources) and Cristina Mrquez Martnez (Early Childhood Education).

In return the volunteers receive university credits and a certificate issued by the City of Totana that accredits the hours of voluntary action taken.

The Councilor for Youth, Inmaculada Blzquez, who gave them the diplomas, gave a very positive evaluation of the collaboration that volunteers have played this year in these projects.

As explained, all parties have benefited, such as volunteers, students, seniors and, in general, society, as we understand that initiatives of this type are positive in order to raise awareness of the need That the citizens collaborate with the Administration, associations and groups that develop projects of social interest.
