The Department of Water and Sewerage has undertaken in recent weeks different works of adaptation of the channel of the ravine of La Santa as it passes through the town, at the height of the area of the Arch of the Ollerías, to solve the problems of stagnation Of surface water and the channeling of the runoff to the sewage system.
In this area these problems had arisen, mainly due to the last storms of torrential rains that happened at the end of last year that had caused important surface drags in the rambla.
These actions, which have been authorized by the Hydrographic Confederation of Segura and have had a total investment of 12,000 euros, have made it possible to overcome the problems of leaking to the basements of nearby buildings and to eliminate the appearance of insects and Odors from the decomposition of stagnant water.
For this, operations have been carried out to fill with granular material in descalces of the channeling walls and hollows in the bed of the channel, according to the councilor of the branch, Antonia Camacho.
In addition, the waters that flow to surface from natural springs have been channeled to the sewerage network, and an old concrete pipe that was out of service has been demolished and removed, explains the mayor.
