The councils of Social Welfare and Health of the City of Totana have been developing since November a service of Aquatic Therapy aimed at children with special needs that are derived by the physiotherapy services of schools in this town, and which is taught in the Center of Sports and Health "MOVE" of this locality.

Councilors Javier Baños and Isabel María Molino, accompanied by heads of the center and technicians who develop this service, presented this initiative, which also has the collaboration of the parents of users, currently 12 children, But that can be increased progressively in the coming months.

The users of this service before they went to the heated swimming pool of Alhama de Murcia because this one was suppressed a few years ago;

And from 2017 will be financed exclusively from the municipal budgets with items from both municipal departments.

The beneficiaries of the service attend two days a week, on Tuesdays and Thursdays in the afternoon;

And physical aspects such as plasticity, psychomotricity and body coordination have been working with physical therapy professionals, in addition to having an important playful aspect.

The Local Government Board approved a few weeks ago the Councilor of Social Welfare proposal to facilitate the access of children with special educational needs of physiotherapy to a service of aquatic therapy with physiotherapist in the facilities of this sports center;

And develops before the need to extend the same to those cases with a greater need for stimulation, through physiotherapy techniques in the aquatic environment to enhance their psychomotor development.

The "Move" Sports, Health and Leisure Center facilitates its facilities to provide this service offering the possibility of developing a total of 48 sessions per month, either in individual therapy or in pairs.

This is fixed in a maximum of nine students in individual session and six in session in pairs, or in another number and distribution provided they do not exceed the budgeted limits with charge to the City and credit available for this exercise.

The municipal officials thanked the collaboration to the physiotherapy services that are provided in the schools the sensitivity for the recovery of the service, as well as the professionals and responsible of the sports center for their involvement in the project that makes a vocation of continuity over time .
