The Municipal School Council of Totana met yesterday in order to address the proposal to be sent to the Ministry of Education and Culture of the school calendar for the 2020/21 academic year in this municipality in the different teachings.The meeting, which was held in the plenary hall and was chaired by the Councilor for Education, Agustín Gonzalo Martínez, discussed the school period for the next school year that will start in September.The meeting served, initially, to present the new members that make up the Municipal School Council after the recent renewal of said body.In addition, he took note of the actions carried out, since the last meeting, by the Department of Education, among which the distribution of books in educational centers stands out as a result of the Ministry's decision not to resume face-to-face classes.The proposal for the school term of the next school year, which should be sent to the Ministry of Education before May 30, is made pursuant to the order of July 28, 2014 of this department.The instructions, in this regard, are that in Infant and Primary Education the school days are 178, while in ESO they have 175 days of class.In no case, classes in any municipality in the Region would begin before September 7, 2020 in Early Childhood and Primary Education, or before September 10 in Secondary Education. Likewise, with regard to Vocational Training, with the aim of scheduling pending internships, it is recommended that the start of the course is not before September 21.The Department of Education will make the calendar public in each of the teachings, as every year, once the proposal is given the green light and it is published in the BORM.
