The General Directorate of Public Health and Addictions of the Ministry of Health that afternoon transferred residents residing in Totana who had maintained some kind of contact with the six infected, all of them farm workers -four of the same family-, in the outbreak by COVID-19 registered this week in this town, to guarantee their isolation and avoid further contagion.A bus from the Autonomous Community has left the Totana intermodal station with people who, after inquiries from health authorities, may have been related to the outbreak detected in recent days in this municipality; who will remain in quarantine in a sports center that is unknown, supervised by the Ministry. Before their transfer, these neighbors at risk have been identified and guided by the health personnel of Health Area III, and informed of the socio-sanitary control and surveillance procedure that they will carry out, at least, for the next two weeks. These works have been supported by members of the Civil Guard, Local Police and Civil Protection in Totana in order to safeguard the security perimeter and comply with established protocols.

Subsequently, the Totana modal interchange area has been disinfected by operators of the municipal road cleaning service of this town. The mayor, Juan José Cánovas, has once again appealed to public tranquility and responsibility to avoid an increase in infections; and he has reiterated his message of concern about this “backwards” situation, which may have worse consequences than those experienced during confinement. Finally, it has alerted the population not to relax hygiene and social distancing measures; insisting that they stay at home as long as possible, gradually giving normality to their social and economic activity.
