On 14 July, the President of COATO, José Luis Hernández Costa, participated as a speaker at a summer course in El Escorial, which organized the Complutense University of Madrid and the ESC (Economic and Social Council), sponsored by the Bank Santander.
Course-Meeting This has lasted for two days and has been on knowledge, innovation and competitiveness in the productive fabric of Spain.
The intervention of Jose Luis Hernandez came on the second day, during a round table was preceded by the intervention of the Director General of CDTI (Centre for Industrial Technological Development) of the Ministry of Economy and Competitiveness.
The roundtable, which focused on knowledge and innovation in the Spanish productive sectors, participated along with the President of COATO (as a representative company in the food sector), the Secretary General of the Cosentino Group (industrial sector linked to construction, owner Silestone patent) Ãlvaro de la Haza, and Juan López-Belmonte, Farmaindustria and Vice President of the Commission R & D of CEOE.
The roundtable was moderated by the Co-Director and Director of CES course and Secretary General of the Employers Valencia, Javier Lopez Mora.
The intervention of the President of COATO focused on explaining the trajectory of 36 years of the company, as well as referring to some aspects that are valued as innovative and references, and the condition of pioneers, 20 years ago, in their sectors on the accreditation of certification systems of quality, sustainability and excellence.
And valued their effort to the conversion of more than 14,000 hectares of crops from conventional to organic, in addition to having generated a wide range of industrial products, processed and prepared primarily ecológicos-, from holdings of its partners, the They have become the leading company and leading European leader in organic farming.
Jose Luis Hernandez also made, as sole representative of the Spanish food industry present in the course- a brief assessment of the evolution and current situation and forecasts for the future five years, for research and innovation in the Spanish food sector and the implementation of some programs and European strategies in the sector;
while some suggested issues on which lines could be oriented research and innovation.
The course, which was opened by the President of the Economic and Social Committee and the General Secretariat of Science, Technology and Research, Ministry of Economy and Competitiveness, and students attended, among others, several directors of the Economic and Social Committee of the State, and substantial representatives of business and labor organizations (CEOE, CCOO and UGT) and other directors representing agricultural organizations and cooperatives;
along with the presidents of the regional CES (Economic and Social Committee) of Castilla León and Extremadura.
