The Guardia Civil of the Region of Murcia, under the 'Plan against theft on farms and livestock', has developed the operation called 'CLUSTER', culminating with the arrest of five members of a criminal group dedicated to subtraction fruit farms Totana.
The investigation began last October, when civil guards specializing in public safety prevention obtained relevant evidence on the alleged unlawful forms of authorship and performance of a group of people dedicated to the theft of fruit farms Totana, facts that had some social alarm generated in the agricultural sector in that area.
Thanks to the cooperation of citizens, essential to the development of the operation, officers identified the members of the criminal group, as well as vehicles used by him for the development of the illegal activity.
The stolen fruit is sold in a garage in Cartagena
The result of the investigation it was found that the criminal group was seated in Cartagena, where they lived all their members, and illegally distributed to locals products through a stolen property, namely a garage, with the port city.
Modus operandi
To develop criminal activity, using the now arrested, allegedly, several cars with recognizing farms.
Once the product is located and fixed the optimum harvest date, committed robbery with two perfectly distinct functions.
While part of the group watched the outskirts of the farm to announce the arrival of the owner or the police presence, the rest agreed to the vines, by force or climb to finally grab the fruit.
The analysis of the information obtained during the investigation helped to clarify, so far, three counts of burglary and theft committed in Totana farms and the hamlet of El Raiguero, and those who had been abducted over 7,000 kilograms of grape.
Those arrested and the proceedings have been brought before the Court of Instruction No. 2 of Totana (Murcia).
