The Segura basin (CHS), an autonomous body under the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Environment, has started dredging and disposal of sediments from the low-water channel Guadalentin River in the town of Totana.
The work, which has an operating budget of € 58,942, is to remove accumulated during the great flood caused by the flood of St. Wenceslas in late September last year carryover.
The works will affect a stretch of nearly six miles long and foster evacuation of low circulating flow in the area through the stress gradient low-water channel in the central region of the channel, reducing stagnation and proliferation vegetation.
Moreover, non-native vegetation that currently pervades the runway Guadalentin to improve drainage capacity, and proceed to the stabilization and repair of the side slopes damaged by the flood and the consolidation of service road will be deleted.
