The mayor of Totana, Andrés García, met this week with representatives of the board of directors of the Federation of Peñas del Carnaval in order to resume and promote the record of Regional Tourist Interest of this party.
During the meeting, it was agreed to create a working table, composed of municipal technicians and representatives of the Peñas del Carnaval Federation, in order to work on the information and documentary compilation and make an organizational balance that allows to continue advancing in their organization and in giving an impulse to the file.
The Plenary of the City Council and unanimously approved in January 2016 a motion to start the file for the declaration of the Carnival of Totana as a Festival of Regional Tourist Interest by the Autonomous Community of the Region of Murcia.
The Carnival Federation of Totana presented a letter in this City Council on October 6, 2015, with number 9.744, signed by representatives of the different Peñas del Carnaval, requesting collaboration so that this party is declared by the Autonomous Community as Regional Tourist Interest.
The Federation is currently integrated by a score of clubs of Totana and brings together more than 1,200 people who participate each year, with more care and quality, in the parades of the Carnival every year.
The Carnival of Totana have registered a very important boom in recent years in terms of organization, participation and celebration of their parades and complementary activities that are organized for this holiday, thanks to the important work being developed by the Federation of Peñas de Carnaval of this town.
In addition, this entity collaborates with the City Council in the organization of other activities of cultural and festive promotion in this municipality by virtue of collaboration agreements for the benefit of Totanera society and the general interest.
