The Local Government Board has authorized an expenditure of 4,000 euros that will be used to enable the participation of children proposed or referred by the Municipal Social Services Center in leisure time activities during the year 2018.
The professionals of the Social Services Center of Totana have been detecting, in their daily work, numerous situations of minors at risk or unprotected, derived from difficulties of their legal responsible for the exercise of their parental functions.
These range from shortage of skills, inability to schedule care, negligence, violence between adults, to aggressive attitudes towards the children themselves, some with a very serious character that results in their withdrawal from the family.
In certain cases, there is an attitude of certain collaboration on the part of those responsible for the development of work to readjust family dynamics, as well as educational and sometimes economic support, not without difficulties throughout the process, since oriented to change patterns of operation deeply rooted in time.
Within these therapies advocates the channeling of children to leisure activities with the aim that they can have other adult models of reference, make an educational use of their free time, can support the family in the overload they carry the adults in front of their cohabitation maladjustments, relate to minors of different social reality, et cetera.
The activities contemplated in this proposal are very broad, such as summer schools, as well as those carried out in other holiday periods, sports activities, musicals, cooking workshops, photography, school reinforcement, and in general, any activity carried out in free time of children at risk or unprotected in the family that may be considered of interest to them.
