The Department of Education, in collaboration with the Mayor's Office, has already begun the visits of this school year 2017/2018 to the City of Totana within the program "Know your town hall", an initiative with which it is intended to offer education centers Totana, within its calendar of extracurricular activities, the possibility that the students of Primary Education can visit the main town hall building.
The visits are attended and guided by municipal technicians, and during the same the children know the different dependencies of the Town hall, the main services and their history.
The technicians accompany the students in their visit through the plenary hall, the municipal archive, the Mayor's Office and other dependencies of interest;
where they know the functioning of the local Administration and the works carried out there, as well as other anecdotes of interest.
The 4th, 5th and 6th grade primary school students know first hand the development of the plenary sessions and the work carried out by the members of the Municipal Corporation, since the visit will conclude with a reception from the mayor in his own office.
The visits that are made, also accompanied by the faculty, are on Fridays during the remainder of the school year, and last approximately one hour.
In the past school year, which took place between February and April, more than 500 schoolchildren participated in this project.
The objective of the program is to bring students to the municipal institution and is suitable for students who are working in the area of Social Sciences, and oriented to learning and review concepts such as the municipality, municipalities, municipal elections and electoral processes, democracy and political parties, the work of councilors and mayor, among others.
The pretense is that the participants can also identify and know the concept of locality and the different types there are, differentiate and identify the different types of neighborhoods and elements of the streets;
know the structure and functioning of the local government and the services it provides and develop citizen awareness habits related to road traffic, as pedestrians and as users of transport and other services.
