The Socialist Parliamentary Group has presented a motion in the Assembly in which it asks the regional government to put in place measures to cover, immediately, the needs of the IES Prado Mayor de Totana, in regard to the lack of tables and chairs so that students can attend classes in decent conditions.
The deputies Choni Ludeña and Alfonso Martínez Baños denounce that the Instituto de Enseñanza Secundaria Prado Mayor de Totana, has gone from having 726 students in the 2014/2015 course to 985 students in the current academic year 2017-2018, "without any investment being made some that compensates for this increase in students ";
this, despite the fact that in 2011 the Ministry recognized the need to make investments in this regard and tendered the drafting of the basic project and execution of the extension of the aulario of said educational center.
According to Martínez Baños, "this lack of infrastructure has been the reason why even the Schooling Commission of Totana, in this course and in previous years, has decided to increase the ratio of students per class in Totana," something inadmissible, since this circumstance it has a direct impact on the quality of teaching in secondary schools in this municipality. "
On October 11, 2017, the City Council of Totana received a letter from the AMPA Vice-president of IES Prado Mayor, where she explained to all the political groups the unfortunate situation of the educational center, derived from insufficient classrooms and furniture, missing around 50 tables and chairs, as well as requiring the Ministry of Education an immediate action.
"From the Socialist Party we denounce the lack of planning and the apathy of the regional government of the PP with public schools and we demand that in the shortest possible time appropriate the classrooms of the IES Prado Mayor, so that students can receive their normal classes. "
