The Municipal Sports Center "6 de Diciembre" Totana will host next Saturday, May 13, the II Rugby Cup of the Region of Murcia in cadet category, which will feature the participation of the six best teams in the category.
The competition, which will start at 10:00 a.m., is organized by the Murcia Federation of Rugby (FERRMUR) and the Totana Rugby Club, and has the invaluable collaboration of the Department of Sports of the City of Totana.
Sports Councilor Isabel María Molino, Totana Rugby Club president Salvador Carrasco and FERRMUR sports director Pedro López presented this event that will bring together the best athletes of this discipline in that category.
The participating teams are Rugby Murcia, Albacete Rugby Club, Totana Rugby, Orihuela Rugby Club, Cartagena Rugby Club and University Club of Murcia.
The event will be developed so that the top three finishers of the League will play the "Gold Cup" and the last three classified in the regular league phase will play the "Silver Cup", each team playing a total of two games During the day.
The councilor of Sports showed his satisfaction to have in Totana an event of this category and to have clubs, as is the case of the Rugby Club, able to promote this type of regional events that congregate numerous athletes and foreign fans.
In addition, he congratulated the host rugby club and FERRMUR for rejoining Totana in this type of competition and encouraged fans of this sport to attend the municipal sports center during this day.
The president of the local club, Salvador Carrasco, thanked the FERRMUR for choosing Totana for this type of competitions and to have the confidence of the Rugby Club of this locality;
And recalled that in Totana the club has six years of life and continues its progression "by leaps and bounds."
This competition was born in its first edition, as explained by the head of the Federation Murciana, as a result of the desire of the cadet team trainers to celebrate a final party of sports coexistence as a colophon to the season.
In addition, the event will feature a tournament of kickers of the same category and will deliver the trophies of the League of the season 2016/2017.
