The prestigious Murcian ascent, scoring for the Spanish Mountain Championship, will be an excellent instrument to spread the tourist image of the Region of Murcia. The Automobile Club Totana and the Ministry of Tourism, Youth and Sports have reached an agreement by which the Costa Cálida - Murcia Region tourism brand will become one of the main sponsors of one of the most important sporting events that take place in the Murcian community for more than 3 decades. The 35th edition of the Ascent to the Sanctuary of the Saint that will be held on September 24, 25 and 26, will have the health security measures required by the pandemic situation at that time, being the same score for the Spanish Championship and Murcia Mountain 2021. In this regard, the Sports Director of the event Daniel López highlighted “we are very satisfied that the Costa Cálida - Murcia Region brand is committed to the Ascent to the Holy, since it generates a great media and advertising impact in the region and province , being the perfect showcase for the tourism promotion of the Region, broadcasting an extensive report of the event through the international channel TDP of Spanish Television.
" In the last edition disputed in the 2019 season, the test generated a direct economic impact on the region of more than 1 million euros based on a study carried out by an independent body on the average expenditure made by the participating teams and the foreign public assistant to the ascent. López ended by noting that “we also hope to close an agreement to promote the tourist image of the municipality of Totana and the Tourist Association of Sierra Espuña and thus enhance the visibility of the regional inland destination by showing the great natural attractions of the town of Totana and the neighboring municipalities.
”. The Ascent to the Sanctuary of the Holy will be the sixth scoring test of the National Mountain of a total of 8 calendadas. The 3 categories in contention after the UbriqueBenaocaz climb are led by Humberto Janssens (Porsche), Javier Villa (BRC) and Mario Asenjo (Silver Car) in categories 1, 2 and 3 respectively.
