Apparently, there is a transfer order starting next week for the archaeological pieces extracted during the excavation campaigns carried out in La Bastida by the team from the Autonomous University of Barcelona within the Bastida Project, a University fully involved with the site and the Putting it into value, using all the resources it has available.

They are intended to be transferred to a warehouse in the Murcia Archaeological Museum located in Alcantarilla, with the pretext of saving the City Council the economic cost that the maintenance of its surveillance entails for the municipality. This would mean the cessation of the investigations that are being carried out at the site itself, since it would not make sense for the investigation team to be maintained if there are no materials to investigate in situ.

This would also mean that the site itself will be left unprotected and in a state of abandonment, as happened before the Bastida Project team was working on the site itself, creating the possibility of looting and looting the buildings that belong to it.

to the municipality. We believe that it is necessary for the Bastida Project team to continue to use the facilities for the Reservoir to continue in value, investigating the pieces that are intended to be transferred to Sewer.

For this reason, since there are two buildings on the site itself, one of which is intended as a research laboratory, and the other to be able to exhibit the pieces as a museum in the future, we propose that they continue to be used. From VOX TOTANA, we urge this City Council to desist from its request to transfer the materials and look for the necessary formulas to maintain the surveillance of the site, the permanence of the pieces extracted from the excavations, and of the Bastida - University Project team itself Autonomous of Barcelona. We cannot pretend to promote tourism with the Santa, Sierra Espuña, Los Arcos de las Ollerías, etc.

and leave La Bastida aside on the pretext that surveillance is a burden on the city council's coffers.

In short, losing a part of our cultural heritage would mean ending a part of our future, and it cannot be consented in any way. That is why we reiterate the previous requirement, that is, that all possible means are put in place so that the investigation is continued to defend the future of Totana through the Project that is giving such good results.
