The mayor, Juan José Cánovas, has reported that crimes and criminal offenses registered in the municipality of Totana have decreased from January to June of this year, compared to the same period of fiscal year 2019; being the accumulated of 443 in 2020 compared to 520 of the first semester of last year (-14.8%).This is stated in the report sent by the Government Delegation in Murcia to the Mayor's Office, which includes the criminal offenses registered by the Secretary of State for Security in towns with a population of more than 30,000 inhabitants.Only serious and less serious crimes of injuries or tumultuous fighting increased, going from 22 to 27 in the first half of 2019 to 2020 (+ 22.7%); while the rest of the criminal typology decreases in this same period of time.Thus, crimes against sexual freedom and indemnity go from 14 to 7 (-50%), penetrative sexual assault, from 2 to 1 (-50%), and the rest of crimes against sexual freedom and indemnity, from 12 to 6 (-50%).Furthermore, robberies with violence and intimidation pass in the first semester of both years from 13 to 11 (-15.4%); robberies with force in homes, establishments and other facilities from 55 to 45 (-18.2%); robberies with force in homes from 44 to 32 (-27.3%); and thefts from 110 to 81 (-26.4%).Vehicle thefts have also decreased, going from 31 to 1 (-66%); while the rest of criminal offenses registered a decrease of -10.7%, when 267 were counted in the first half of 2020 compared to 299 in the same period of the past.The first mayor thanked the Security Forces and Corps, specifically the Civil Guard and Local Police, for the work and effort they have been making in this fight against crime, even more so in these complex times of health and social crisis due to the COVID-19.
