Until the first semester of 2020, the Municipal Center for Social Services attended a total of 98 minors in a situation of family vulnerability, belonging to 71 active cases in different phases of family work (previous actions after detection or suspicion of lack of protection, list of wait and intervention).Of these, a total of 19 families, that is, 26.76% of the total, have also suffered episodes of gender violence, according to sources from the Department of Social Welfare.The Totana Social Services Center is developing a specific work aimed at minors in a situation of vulnerability in their family environment, professionally accompanying and facilitating access to socio-educational resources to those legally responsible for them, given the difficulties they present to comply with their duties of emotional, physical and material care in the relationship with their children.Such situations are usually detected directly by the professionals of the Center itself, relatives, neighbors or other professionals who to a greater or lesser extent have contact with the field of childhood and adolescence.Such is the case of educational centers, health centers, Local Police, Civil Guard, hospitals and other organizations or entities, with whom we work in close collaboration, both in the detection of needs and in the development of our own work with families, highlighting the immeasurable involvement of all professionals.
