The Civil Protection Volunteers Association in Totana reminds that it is not allowed, in any case, to make fires in the existing barbecues in Sierra Espuņa in the different places and recreational areas distributed by the natural park.There is a ban, as every summer, to cook in the mountains, both with barbecues and using portable stoves and stoves.Civil Protection appreciates the collaboration of all users and visitors to the Sierra de Espuņa throughout the year and, particularly, during the summer months in order to avoid unpleasant accidents on the natural environment.By virtue of the collaboration agreement with the Autonomous Community, Civil Protection volunteers have been providing collaboration in the mobile surveillance service and forest fire detection in accordance with the provisions of the Special Emergency Civil Protection Plan for Forest Fires in the Region of Murcia (Infomur Plan) in its operation for the 2020/21 period.By virtue of these agreements, a total of 176,000 euros is distributed among the municipalities that sign them, distributed according to the forest area of ??each municipal term.

Thus, 4,000 fixed euros are contributed to each of the municipalities, which are increased by 1,500 euros if their forest area exceeds 50 percent of the total municipal term and with another 1,500 euros if the forest area is greater than 5,000 hectares.

In addition, if it exceeds 40,000 hectares, another 1,500 euros are added.The volunteers have been carrying out mobile surveillance work in different strategic points of Sierra Espuņa and the upper districts of Totana; the so-called "black spots", places and corners where the usual guards of the sentry boxes are not visible.95% of forest fires that occur in summer and are usually due to carelessness or lack of care, recklessness, irresponsibility or arson behavior, so it is recommended to notify 112 immediately in case of an incident; and in any case, do not throw cigarettes, matches or lighters on the ground; as well as garbage outside the authorized containers, glass bottles or lighting fires in the mountains, boulevards or ravines in times of risk.
