The evolution of the pandemic forces to tighten the measures in the funeral ceremonies, that will not be able to count on the presence of more than three close friends of the deceased and prohibits the celebration of all the funeral services, regardless of the cause of death
This standard extends the one decreed last week by the Ministry of Health in the Region of Murcia
The Totana City Council communicates that from today Monday and until the end of the state of alarm decreed to contain the coronavirus pandemic, the Government of Spain prohibits the celebration of all the wake, regardless of the cause of death of the deceased, while in the burial or farewell for the cremation of the deceased may only be present by three relatives or close friends.
Until now, the Health Ministries of each Autonomous Community were in charge of determining the restrictions to guarantee compliance with security measures, such as the recommended distance of between one and two meters between people and to avoid crowds.
Thus, although access to funeral homes was already very restricted and funeral ceremonies, limited or directly suspended, the BOE on Monday collected the new extraordinary measures that affect services held both in public and private facilities.
The rule requires postponing the celebration of religious cults or civil funeral ceremonies while the state of alarm lasts, a measure that funeral companies had already begun to take.
Funeral services prices
In addition, the Government of Spain has prohibited the increase in prices of funeral services.
The BOE establishes that during the period of validity of the state of alarm, the prices may not be higher than the prices in force prior to March 14, 2020, so the company must deliver a budget broken down for each of the concepts included in the same and the current price list
And, if the collection for higher amounts has taken place, the company must initiate the refund of the difference ex officio, recording the actions carried out for this purpose in the event that it cannot be carried out.
While the affected people will have six months from the date of the end of the alarm state to request the corresponding refund and in the event that they have contracted services or products that cannot be enjoyed due to the circumstances, the user will also have the right to the return of the corresponding amounts.
