The Commonwealth of Channels of the Taibilla has transferred to the City of Totana the House of the Guardian for different future uses of public interest, after repeated requests and municipal managements;
and it has guaranteed the supply with water of the Taibilla to the Complex of the Santa and the deputation of the Sierra.
The mayor, Juan José Cánovas, accompanied by the Councilor for Urban Planning, Infrastructure, Environment and Works, Pedro José Sánchez, met on Wednesday, at the headquarters of this agency in Cartagena, with its president, Francisca Baraza and the secretary general , José Manuel Fuentes, respectively, to address issues that affect this municipality.
The meeting concluded, in a very cordial environment, different positive results, such as the MCT's commitment to provide the Santa Complex and the La Sierra County Council with Taibilla water through the reservoir located in the upper area of ​​Montysol , which will be launched during this year.
This action, which was precisely approved by the Plenary of the Municipal Corporation last January at the initiative of the Mayor's Office, will mean considerable savings in the current situation and water bill, as well as an optimization of the networks within the framework of the Adjustment and Savings Plans, as explained by the first mayor Totanero.
This work, as reported by the mayor of Totana, will allow the ostensible improvement of a service as important as drinking water in that part of the municipality.
The municipal officials were also able to know, during this meeting, the progress in the construction project of the new reversible channel from the Partidor de Lorca in the Lentiscosa, to the Coronadas deposit at the vertices of Fuente Ãlamo and Mazarrón.
Juan José Cánovas recalled that this work, which is also the result of the pertinent efforts of the municipal government, will mean the improvement for decades of supply in the districts of El Paretón-Cantareros, El Raiguero, La Ñorica and also the industrial estate "El Saladar ".
Likewise, the cession signature of the so-called "Casa del Guarda", which the City Council already requested in the previous legislature, in October 2017, to the MCT for use of public interest.
This infrastructure is located in the Siphon de Cordones, in La Calzona;
property of the MCT, being a housing characteristic of the constructions of this organism that has been uninhabited for decades.
In addition, it is located in a strategic place, a short distance from the town center and very close to the Tira del Lienzo site, the Sports City and almost within the limits of the Sierra Espuña natural park.
The Plenary already approved a motion in August 2016 an initiative of the Councilor for Youth, Immaculate Blázquez, also in this regard.

For many years, it is in disuse, which has caused its deterioration and could be the perfect place for cultural, sports and leisure activities, such as rehearsal room for local groups, workshops, social premises for youth groups , organization of routes to know the environment, among others.
In turn, the transfer of this house to the City Council by MCT, will involve putting the construction into use and thus stop the deterioration suffered due to abandonment, undertaking various reforms that are necessary for its implementation.
Finally, the mayor stressed that this entity continues to value very positively the effort in the management of the City Council, when eliminating the millionaire debt found in 2015.
