The mayor of Totana, Juan José Cánovas, underlined at a press conference, the burden on the already battered economic situation of the City Council the recent resolution of five new judicial sentences for a total amount of 1,389,556 million euros, with their corresponding interests, on matters related to municipal management "in times of PP governments".

The judgments refer to matters related to the urban bus service (362,000 euros), interest agreed at 8% under the contract for the service of urban solid waste collection (238,000 euros), obligations with "Lorquimur, SL" for the rehabilitation of the Arco de Las Ollerías (718,000 euros) and urban development agreements in the urbanizations El Parral (542,000 euros) and La Charca (174,100 euros), which exceed 1.3 million euros.

The mayor recalled the latest 20-year debt refinancing operations, with two deficiencies, established with the Ministry of Finance and announced that in the coming weeks he will hold a meeting with the ministerial officials to channel this new debt added under loans through the Ordinance Funds, which will lead to an increase in municipal debt, he predicted.

In this regard, he announced that Intervention economic services "are working hard" by adjusting the extended budget and expressed his desire to discuss with the municipal political groups a budget that allows "meeting and dialogue points" to reach agreements on this matter.

Regarding the economic situation, he regretted that the Government of Spain obliges this local entity to increase the salary of municipal officials by 2% since the beginning of the year and, on the contrary, order the City Council to cut 6% of the expenditure on resources. Humans.

In another order of affairs, he showed the commitment and determined support of the municipal government with the agriculture sector in Totana, which he said "is going through a crisis arising from export agreements with the EU regarding third countries" that are having consequences harmful to the detriment of Spanish products;

and warned about speculative capital in the field without assessing sustainability over agriculture.

Likewise, he informed of the imminent news that may come about the layout of the AVE and the High Voltage Line, reiterating that the City Council of Totana "will not admit the forgetting of the route of 2011, which affected fewer homes and neighbors";

while he said he did not understand Adif's closure to the proposed alternative.

He warned that the Consistory totanero will continue to be with the affected neighbors in both cases, and reiterated that the measures put in place will allow "to move forward and meet the needs of citizens for the present and future."
