The Abandoned Jesus Foundation has received the donation from the Brotherhood of Veronica de Totana of about 1,600 kilos of non-perishable food, hygiene products and personal hygiene and clothing. This donation shows the solidarity of the Brotherhood and the people totanero, was carried out during last Christmas through the VII Belén Solidario, which was exhibited at its headquarters on the Minister Fernández Ordóñez Street.
The products, brought to the facilities of the Abandoned Jesus Reception Center in Murcia with the help of Civil Protection of Totana, include everything from pasta, legumes, rice, milk, sugar, oil or canned products to gel, shampoo, deodorant, popcorn, water of cologne or shaving foam, according to Totana.com sources from the Foundation.
All these products will be destined to the people welcomed in the Carretera de Santa Catalina, the different houses with support, the floors of the 'Housing First' program (the housing, the first) and the social pension managed by the institution, which has a total of 248 accommodation places.
In addition, they will also serve for the Social Dining service, with an average of 300 meals and 300 daily dinners.
These services for passers-by and residents at risk of social exclusion or in a situation of homelessness, join the services offered by the professionals of the Office of Information Orientation and Advice, of the street intervention program, of the area of ​​employment and training or those of shower and hygiene, clothes, laundry, and socio-sanitary services such as nursing, psychology, psychiatry, dentistry or gynecology.
The Abandoned Jesus Foundation, which carries out its work in the Region of Murcia together with the Hospital Order of San Juan de Dios, includes all its programs an individualized, continuous and comprehensive care through a multidisciplinary team formed by social workers, psychologists, nurses , auxiliaries and educators, with the essential reinforcement of volunteers.
