The mayor of Totana, Juan José Cánovas, yesterday obtained the commitment of the president of the Autonomous Community, Fernando López Miras, with whom he met for the first time in this legislature, to work to “unblock” the General Plan of Municipal Planning, improve the economic and financial situation of the Consistory and create a common front, between both administrations, in terms of infrastructure that benefits the general interest of the municipality.

The first mayor Totanero held a meeting for almost an hour with the head of the regional Executive at the headquarters of the regional government, in the Palace of San Esteban, with which he addressed the main issues and projects that most interest the citizens of Totana for the sake of to give them a boost and design a collaborative roadmap for this mandate.

At the end of the meeting with López Miras, the first mayor Totanero appeared before the journalists, in a press room, accompanied by the Minister of the Presidency and Finance, Javier Celdrán, in order to give an account of the result of this institutional meeting with the president of the Autonomous Community, the first of this legislature.

The mayor described this first working appointment with the president of the regional executive as "sincerely very cordial, close and loyal";

and said he felt "at home" during the meeting, while he added that "it is a pleasure to verify the regional government's interest in the municipality of Totana, and the president's knowledge about the problems addressed."

During the meeting, the councilor of Totana transferred the need for the regional administration to help the Consistory in improving the economic and financial situation that the municipal coffers are going through, as he recognized, “it is already bearing fruit also, in some cases, thanks to the work and collaboration of the regional government ”.

In addition, he urged the regional president to urgently expedite the document of the General Urban Planning Plan that must result in income generation and the promotion of employment in the municipality.

Similarly, among the issues addressed, it also transferred the need for the regional government to continue helping and investing in the development of the tourism empowerment plan of the archaeological site of La Bastida.

In this regard, those responsible for the two administrations advocated the tourism development of Totana, continuing to work together on the enhancement of the archaeological site of La Bastida, one of the most important in Europe to become an axis of attraction for the cultural tourism;

as well as with the commissioning of the future City Museum.

On the other hand, the mayor announced that both administrations will make “a common front” for the construction of the third lane on the A-7 highway from Alhama de Murcia to Puerto Lumbreras, as approved by the plenary in December at the request of the Town hall.

In this regard, the Minister of the Presidency also showed the support of the regional government for municipal demands on infrastructure, in particular, for the integration of High Speed ​​as it passes through the municipality and the extension of the third lane in said infrastructure.

On this matter, the mayor advanced that the City Council will continue to carry out “an extreme defense” of the demands of the neighbors so that the layout of the AVE and the projects of the two High Voltage Lines do not harm social values ​​and have the lower environmental impact on owners and neighbors of the Totana and Aledo fields.

In another order of affairs, the mayor announced and thanked the collaboration and assistance that the Autonomous Community will provide to the City Council of Totana regarding rural roads and investments in drinking water and sanitation networks.

Finally, the Totana councilor informed the head of the regional government of the need to continue betting on the industrial estate "El Saladar", located in a privileged enclave and with reference services.

The mayor reiterated feeling “excited” about the harmony that existed after the meeting and insisted on the “positive and pleasant” character of the latter because, he said, “the president has committed himself to the neighbors of Totana and we have agreed on loyalty institutional to move forward, together with the counselors, in the matters that have been discussed during the meeting ”.
