The City of Totana has already received authorization for the use of fires intended for the preparation of typical dishes coinciding with the pilgrimage back from Santa Eulalia de Mérida to its sanctuary, this next Tuesday, January 7, according to the mayor, Juan José Cánovas .
The General Directorate of the Natural Environment of the Ministry of Water, Agriculture, Livestock, Fisheries and Environment has informed the Consistory totanero the permission to light fires in order to prepare the typical dishes planned during this day, from 00:00 until 10:00 pm on the occasion of the pilgrimage.
The use of vegetable and gaseous fuel in the public hill number 83 of Totana has been authorized for the lighting of the fires, being carried out in the recreational areas where there are fixed and permanent infrastructures specially enabled for this purpose.
Fires with vegetable fuel will be carried out exclusively in fixed and permanent infrastructures, especially for this purpose (barbecues), and their execution outside of them is expressly prohibited.
The ignition of fires with gaseous fuel may be carried out on the entire surface of the recreational areas.
The displaced environmental agents will also report on the areas suitable for gaseous fire, according to the bounded areas.
In addition, for reasons of conservation of the biodiversity of the regional park of Sierra Espuña and due to the danger of fuel accumulation and security against the risk of forest fire, access or lighting of any fire will not be allowed in forested areas of the environment covered by natural vegetation
In the same way, users will be at the disposal of environmental agents depending on the circumstances of risk contemplated in the authorization or that may occur in the course of the activity due to the particular conditions of the place where the holiday is celebrated by the pilgrimage of the Patroness of Totana.
