Manoli
Cánovas Dance School
Manoli Cánovas was born in Totana and started dancing at the age of 10. At
13 she began her studies at the Superior School of Dramatic Arts and Dance of
Murcia (Professional Conservatory, 1982-89), from where she graduated at the
age of 20. A year later she joined the dance body of the contemporary dance
company "Ballet del Alba" where she expanded her classical and
Spanish training with contemporary dance under the teachings of the
choreographer Onyl Vizcaíno.
She was also a student under other important dance figures such as Rosella Hightower, (a dancer with the prestigious Bolshoi ballet), in the international dance days of Tarragona in 1985. That same year took master classes by Artemiss Markessinis and Joël Mazet (first Ballet dancer of the Paris Opera). In 1986, 1987 and 1988, she attended the International Karel Dance Days in Gijón. There she had the opportunity to learn from great classical ballet masters such as Virginia Valero (former dancer and current director of the Conservatory of Madrid), flamenco with Curra Jiménez (professor of the conservatory of the capital of Spain), folklore with Isidro Herrero (ex- first dancer of the Ballet of Marienma). It was also in Asturias where she made her first steps in other unusual styles in Spain such as tap and African rhythms.
In the 90s, Latin Rhythms and Ballroom Dances began to become fashionable in Spain. So she moved to Madrid to learn them under the guidance of Jose Ignacio and Loreto (Spanish Champions in these styles).
In 2001 she opened her own School in Totana, and now she is waiting to welcome you into her classes.
Salsa &
Bachata Classes
Salsa classes are aimed at people who have no previous experience of dancing. Students for whom dancing is a hobby.
The only requirement we ask is that you want to learn, age is simply not important.
Professors Luis Sanjuan and Carina are the most prestigious in the region, their experience makes them ideal teachers, and thousands of students who fill the dance floors of the region have learned with them.
These classes guarantee fun while also providing moderate physical activity that brings significant health benefits to students.
Flamenco Classes
Typically Spanish dance although it possibly has its roots in the orient.
If, as it seems to be the case, the castanets replaced chopsticks and were introduced to the Iberian peninsula by the Phoenicians, flamenco was brought to prominence through the Romanian gypsies.
However, after centuries of evolution, flamenco, as we know it today, is something unique in the world.
Flamenco moves make it possible to express all kinds of emotions and feelings from joy to pain, either through singing, music or dance. Nothing like flamenco allows us to express the character of the Spanish people to the outside world.
