Parking

Source:

A common complaint from the visitors to Totana is the lack of parking. This is largely based on the fact that many visitors come to Totana for the weekly market and this, by nature, is the absolute busiest day of the week by far. The parking in the town is plentiful if you know where to look.

Outside of market day the easiest option by far is the underground car park in the main Plaza de la Balsa Vieja. Reasonable in price and easily accessed from the road on which the market is situated on a Wednesday. Simply drive up the main rambla, cross the bridge between Druni and Santander bank and the turn back down the ramble. The first turning on your right is clearly signposted to the car park. It can be accessed from other routes but I would recommend walking them first to get an idea of the roads.

If you continue to the very top of the rambla on either side there is also a good amount of free parking. There are various pieces of untended land which are also free to use and very close to the centre of town. At the very bottom of the rambla on the main road there is also a popular parking place for the Wednesday visitors on a piece of wasteland. This is also available at other times.

As far as the designated parking bays are concerned the rules are pretty much as follows.

Red – resident permits only

Blue – Ticket must be bought and displayed (this is very cheap). Theses spaces are free of charge on Monday-Friday 14:00 - 17:00 and 20:00 - 06:00. Saturday and Sunday all day. August 1st -31st.

White – well done ! Park for nothing

Those of you who are a little bit more adventurous can try parking away from the main streets (which is what we would all do in our home town). Totana is a relatively small town centre and walking from one side to the other takes 10 minutes. Normal common sense needs to apply but here it’s pretty much a free-for-all. Keep your eyes alert for road crossings, disabled markings and garage doors but other than those it is relatively simple to park and walk in most areas of the town.
