The Almudí Palace these days hosts a sample of electoral posters, press and images of the first elections to vote for municipal governments
The mayor of Totana, Juan José Cánovas, attended yesterday the event in which the Federation of Municipalities of the Region of Murcia (FMRM) honored the mayors of the year 79 to celebrate the 40 years of local democracy, which was held at the Palace Almudí;
which hosts these days a sample of electoral posters, press and images of the first elections to vote for municipal governments.
The FMRM celebrates this week the 40 years of the democratic town halls with a series of activities that have begun with the inauguration, in the Almudí Palace, of an exhibition of electoral posters, press and images of the first local elections in the Region.
Also, homage has been paid to the mayors of 79 by giving them a miniature city key.
During the inauguration of this anniversary, the president of the Federation, the mayor of Lorquí, Joaquín Hernández, together with the mayor of Murcia, José Ballesta, the counselor of the Presidency and Finance, Javier Celdrán and the Secretary General of FMRM, Manolo, were present Duck.
Thus, the different presidents of the FMRM, throughout these years, Antonio Bódalo, José Méndez and Miguel Ãngel Cámara, all of them mayors of the city of Murcia dedicated a few words to those present.
After a tour of the graphic sample of the municipal elections, the recognition of the first mayors of the Region of Murcia took place, and the different presidents of the Federation shared their experiences at the head of this organization, highlighting the role played by the municipalities in The progress and development of our country.
The current president said "the local administrations are and will continue to be absolutely necessary. We are the closest administration to the citizen. We have always been clear about our mission: to improve the lives of our neighbors and meet their needs. Even without support, without recognition, without powers and without legislation. "
The activities celebrating the 40th anniversary of municipal democracy will continue with the celebration of the General Assembly of the FMRM on Friday 29 in the Almudí.
Precisely Hernández leaves the position this Friday and the current mayor of Bullas, Maria Dolores Muñoz, will become president of the Federation of municipalities in the region.
The exhibition '40 years of democratic municipalities', is composed of posters of the different political parties that attended the municipal elections of 79, photos of the mayors of Murcia, original records of the different municipalities of the Region, as well as news and clippings of press of the time.
In addition, the 22 surviving mayors received the Silver Key of the Kingdom of Murcia from the Federation of Municipalities of the Region of Murcia, an agency that also imposed its Gold Badge on its last two presidents, Miguel Ãngel Cámara and Joaquín Hernández Gomariz .
