The mayor, Juan José Cánovas, and the pastor of Santiago, Francisco José Fernández, have presented the program of religious and liturgical events of the patron saint festivities of Santa Eulalia de Mérida of 2019, whose poster this year is illustrated by a creative image of the Patron Saint of Totana, and of which 2,500 copies have been published that can be purchased at the Office of Tourism and the Sacristy of this parish.
As novelties this year will take place the processional transfers, from December 10 and 10, at 5:30 p.m.
The program starts on Saturday, November 30 with the presentation of the publication Cuadernos de La Santa, at the Patron Sanctuary, starting at 6:00 p.m.
In addition, on Sunday, December 8, at 8:00 a.m., the Holy Mass will take place and then transfer in pilgrimage of the image of Santa Eulalia de Mérida from its sanctuary to the city;
where it will be received, as is tradition, at 12:00 hours, in the place of El Rulo, in charge of the civil and religious authorities for its transfer to the hermitage of San Roque.
On Monday, December 9, at 12:00 noon, the Holy Mass will be celebrated;
and at 5:30 p.m., the image of the Patroness will be transferred from the hermitage of San Roque to the parish of Santiago.
At 9:00 p.m., the traditional serenade will be celebrated to the exalted Patron, on the occasion of her holiday, in the parish temple.
On Tuesday, December 10 will be the solemn Eucharist for the feast of Santa Eulalia, at 11:00 hours, chaired by the bishop of the diocese José Manuel Lorca Planes;
and at 5:30 p.m., the solemn procession through the streets of Totana of the image.
On Sunday December 15 will be the floral offering, at 12:00 hours, with concentration on the Convent's roundabout and entourage towards the Plaza de la Constitución;
suppressing that day the masses of 12:00 hours (parish of Santiago) and 13:00 hours (Convent Three Hail Marys).
In addition, from December 11 to 19, the solemn novena will be held in honor of Santa Eulalia de Mérida, preached by the director of the Center for Theological Studies San Fulgencio, Juan Carlos García Domene.
The program concludes, as is tradition, on Tuesday, January 7, with the pilgrimage back from Santa Eulalia to its sanctuary: at 8:00 a.m. it will be Mass and at 9:00 a.m. the transfer of the image in pilgrimage from Santiago parish to its hermitage in Sierra Espuña, being received at 12:00 hours, with the celebration of the Eucharist.
