The Local Police of Totana, with the invaluable cross-sectional collaboration of the Youth and Education departments, has launched the germ of the so-called "Classroom Konect @" project, an initiative of an alternative model of healthy leisure aimed at the group of minors in this town .
The mayor, Juan José Cánovas, and the councilors of Youth and Education, Inmaculada Blázquez and Agustín Gonzalo Martínez, accompanied by the head of the Local Police, Alfonso Canales, and the guardian agent of the Local Police driving the project, Alfonso Sánchez, have presented this project with which it is intended to prevent behaviors to change the existing social model.
In the presentation ceremony, which took place in the auditorium and in which the edited video was also presented to promote this project that was made by Sergio Ruzafa one of the young people integrated into the program-, he had the assistance of 13 of the 26 young minors who have been gradually and progressively incorporated into this pedagogical action.
This pilot program, which initially started a year and a half ago April 2018-, aims to generate a space for fluid and operational communication between the Local Police and minors in order to promote the transmission of civic and healthy values and behaviors.
The project promoted by the Local Police arose due to the growing concern raised by the group of minors in Totana and the problems generated as a result of the lack of leisure and free time alternatives, and has had the involvement of the aforementioned councilors, representatives of associations that operate with young people and the Orientation departments of HEIs.
The Department of Youth enabled a space in the Socio-Cultural Center "La Cárcel" that will remain skilled on Mondays and Fridays to analyze the effects of the weekend-, where young people will develop classroom activities, thus beginning work with those minors who need that help or immediate action.
In addition, as explained by its promoters, the idea was to stop seeing the figure of the Local Police agent as "an enemy" or "the person who does not let me have fun" to become "an ally" or rather "someone that is there for your help "so that they are aware of the rules, and of their social rights and obligations.
The classroom is the physical space where a support work is carried out that begins at street level, where professionals specialized in working with children can also go later, as well as with the parents who are necessary and want to get involved.
The project advocates to redirect, through the creation of bonds of trust and motivational incentive, the consequences of an infraction, and that this is resolved in a way that allows both the community and the minor affected in their future development as an adult .
Likewise, efforts are being made to promote values such as companionship, respect and solidarity, being aware of the need to establish the development of personal values for the community and society.
