From the "Plaza del Pueblo" citizen platform we send you a proposal collected from a large group of neighbors, encouraged to improve the habitability of our city, public spaces, recreation areas, etc.
Our municipality supports the rigor of summer temperatures with many peculiarities.
Our geographical situation, along with other weather factors makes the summer summer season, very prolonged in time, is a matter of concern for many of the local inhabitants and visitors.
There are many neighbors and foreigners who agree on the need to create green spaces, enabled areas where the situation of high temperatures can be alleviated.
One of the places frequented practically throughout the year is the "Plaza de la Balsa Vieja".
Neuralgic center of our urban center, a busy place for many inhabitants and a meeting point for Totanera society.
This place has been the subject of many actions by the City Council seeking and trying to improve the space. The central area of the Plaza lacks shadows, in our opinion, it could be equipped with sail awnings that will alleviate the most aggressive hours of sun.
Also install planters with plants and trees that mitigate high temperatures.
This proposal can be extrapolated to other places and crowded places in our city.
Otherwise it would be possible to close the Constitution Square on weekends and holidays, giving way to a vehicle-free and walkable space for families, seniors, children, etc.
With these endowments we can alleviate the effects of summer burning of common and public spaces, frequented by most residents and visitors, enriching Totana's identity places with trees, streets and pedestrian plazas, areas for people, free of cars and vehicles.
There are many specialists who agree on the need to provide cities with trees and plants, green spaces, their contribution to the environment is vital for everyone.
