The spokesman of the Municipal Socialist Group in the City of Totana, Andrés García Cánovas, has formally submitted by resignation today his resignation to the act of councilor of the municipal Corporation "for personal reasons", as publicly announced on the 2nd day of August.
García Cánovas was mayor of Totana during the second term of the previous legislature under the government agreement between Ganar Totana-IU and the PSOE in the Consistory totanero.
In the first two years of the last legislature he was first deputy mayor and councilor for Agriculture and Road, respectively.
In addition, he participated as a candidate for mayor for the lists of the PSOE in the last municipal elections of May 26, obtaining five councilors.
The following members in the PSOE candidacy that choose to replace García Cánovas are Pedro Antonio Megal Ruiz, María Teresa Guarinos Rojo, Daniel Ponce Cabrera, Juana Antonia del Vas Martínez and Antonio Martínez Baena, among others and in this order.
Andrés García, a farmer by profession and closely linked to the social fabric of Totana, who is married and has a daughter, has also resigned from his position as general secretary of the PSOE in Totana on August 1.
He was already councilor of the City of Totana in the legislatures of 1999-2003, assuming the areas of Commerce, among others.
