Local authorities have closed the 2018/19 course of the Day Center for People with Mental Illness "Princess Letizia" which has about twenty users, who receive comprehensive and rehabilitative care at the psychosocial level.

The mayor, Juan José Cánovas, and the Councilor for Social Welfare, which manages the day centers of Totana, Javier Baños, accompanied by the mayor Víctor Balsas and Maribel Rubio, attended the event with which the course is closed until the next September.

Users received a diploma accrediting the hands of municipal officials in recognition of their work and effort throughout the year;

and explained, in a loud voice, their experiences during this course and purposes for the future.

In addition, an original video made by the same students was projected in which they presented the program of activities in the different workshops, trips and scheduled trips organized during the course that ends.

Finally, they staged an endearing play in which all users played a magnificent interpretive role.

Throughout the course, participants develop programs with the objectives of preventing their psychological and cognitive deterioration, promoting personal and social autonomy, favoring and supporting community integration and promoting a healthy lifestyle among people diagnosed with mental health. .

The Day Center includes numerous benefits such as basic assistance services in basic activities of daily living (ABVD), accessible transportation and maintenance;

therapeutic prevention, counseling and guidance services;

social care, habilitation or occupational care;

assistance and personal development;

Psychological attention;

and occupational therapy.

In addition, programs to improve cognitive, psychoeducational, psycho-affective and socializing abilities are carried out;

training in occupational tasks and work recovery, if applicable;

self-care skills training;

intervention with families (information, advice and self help);

community integration, social support and monitoring;

monitoring and evaluation of personal intervention programs.

In the same way, an individualized program of care is prepared and planned that guarantees the attention and support appropriate to the needs of each of the people served, as well as their monitoring and evaluation.
