The Local Police of Totana practiced 190 tests in the special campaign of monitoring and control of alcohol and drugs in drivers promoted by the General Directorate of Traffic (DGT), which took place between June 3 and 9, in which 7 positive were counted, according to sources from the Headquarters.
Of these, five of the complaints were for accounting positive tests in expired air by 0.25;
while the other two drivers were arrested for registering a rate higher than 0.60 and 1.2 milligrams per liter of exhaled air.
According to data provided by the DGT, alcohol is present as a concurrent or triggering factor in one third of fatal accidents.
Its presence in driving, depending on its rate, multiplies between 2 and 15 the risk of suffering an accident.
The only safe rate is 0.00 mg / l.
Alcohol not only causes greater accidents, but also has an impact on increased mortality due to a worse prognosis in the injuries suffered.
With a BAC of 1.5 g / l, the incidence rate of fatal accidents is approximately 200 times higher than when it comes to drivers who have not ingested alcohol.
Likewise, alcohol is a risk for pedestrians, as a user of the road that shares public space with others.
Lower of 1% the positive of alcohol in the controls is one of the priority objectives of the DGT.
The increase in preventive controls is one of the factors that is favoring a change in citizen behavior on this issue, hence the importance of the participation of the municipalities in this type of campaign.
On the other hand, driving after the consumption of psychoactive substances is a frequent occurrence in Spain, reaching 17% of Spanish drivers.
Apart from alcohol, almost 11% of people drive after having consumed some substance that can affect the capacity for safe driving.
Cannabis and cocaine are the two most frequently found substances.
