Juan José Cánovas Cánovas, head of the list of the candidacy of Ganar Totana-IU Verdes, was proclaimed today the new mayor of Totana for the 2019/2023 legislature that now begins, by achieving 11 supports from the 21 councilors that make up the municipal Corporation.

The Cinema Velasco of this town hosted the first constitution plenary session and the act of investiture of the new alderman, who counted on the six votes of his group and the five of the Municipal Socialist Group, thus facilitating the absolute majority.

In addition, six votes were counted in favor of candidate Juan Pagán (PP), two for María Dolores Martínez (Vox), one for José David Amorós (C's-Partido de la Ciudadanía) and one blank vote, from José Antonio Andreo (Now Totana).

During the session, the Age Bureau was set up, formed by the elected councilors of higher and lower age as established by the legislation in force, in this case, Antonio Martínez Belchí (PP) and Pedro José Sánchez Pérez (Ganar Totana-IU), respectively .

These acted as president and secretary until the inauguration of the new mayor;

together with the General Secretary of the Municipal Corporation.

The 21 corporate sworn or promised their new positions, and subsequently voted their candidates for mayor.

At the end of the vote, the outgoing mayor, Andrés García, symbolically handed over the ceremonial stick to the new alderman Juan José Cánovas, who was already mayor during the first two years of the previous term.

After its proclamation, spoke the spokesmen of the six new municipal groups of Totana;

and the new councilor closed the plenary session.

The new Municipal Corporation is constituted, after the results of the municipal elections on May 26, by 6 councilors of Win Totana-IU, 6 PP, 5 PSOE, 2 VOX, 1 Citizens and 1 Now Totana.

The corporate ones are Juan José Cánovas Cánovas (Winning Totana), Inmaculada Blázquez Acosta (Winning Totana), Veronica Carricondo Gázquez (Winning Totana), Pedro José Sánchez Pérez (Winning Totana), Agustín Gonzalo Martínez Hernández (Winning Totana), Javier Baños (Winning Totana), Andrés García Cánovas (PSOE), Isabel María Molino López (PSOE), Víctor Balsas Cánovas (PSOE), Blasa Montes Pérez (PSOE), Carlos Enrique Ballester Méndez (PSOE), Juan Pagán Sánchez (PP), María Isabel Rubio Peña (PP), Félix Cayuela de Pablo (PP), Antonia Cánovas Caro (PP), Antonio Martínez Belchí (PP), Isabel García Merinos (PP), María Dolores García Martínez (Vox), Javier Clemente Sánchez Mulero (Vox), José David Amorós López (C's) and José Antonio Andreo Moreno (Now Totana).

The cultural venue where the first plenary session of the City Council was held was attended by a large public, among which were deputies and regional leaders of political parties, such as the deputy Alfonso Martínez Baños and the regional coordinator of IU José Luís Ãlvarez- Castellanos, among others.
