The City Council of Totana and the Spanish Red Cross in this municipality have recently signed a collaboration agreement aimed at carrying out joint actions of accompaniment and social and welfare services in this town.
The acting mayor, Andrés García, and the local president of the Red Cross, Pedro Abellaneda Moya, accompanied by the acting councilor of Social Welfare, Javier Baños, signed this agreement, in an act held in the plenary hall, by the that the Consistory is committed to the cession of public spaces to develop certain activities, such as training courses, foster care, first aid, and so on.
The Local Government Board approved last May the proposal of the Councilor for Social Welfare, to formalize this agreement between the Totanero Consistory and the Local Assembly of the Spanish Red Cross in order to develop programs of social intervention, employment, volunteer activities and participation.
Red Cross reopened its headquarters located on Avenida Juan Carlos I last November after several years inoperative, whose humanitarian institution of voluntary nature and public interest is configured as an auxiliary and collaborator of public administrations in humanitarian and social activities promoted by these.
Among its aims are the promotion and collaboration of social welfare actions of welfare and social services to groups or people with difficulties for their social integration, the cooperation of health prevention programs and assistance-type actions, among others.
Red Cross will also be referred to the users whose profiles are adjusted to the specific projects carried out by that entity, in this case, the Employment Plan (courses aimed at facilitating labor insertion) and Social Intervention (programs to help the elderly and caregivers of dependents and collaborative programs with people in residences.
These include the Volunteering Promotion Project, which includes training and awareness-raising actions;
welcome, information and guidance;
voluntary participation actions in the programs promoted by this institution, among others.
