A total of 10 people have participated in the program "Walk between fabrics", itinerary of accompaniment and social and labor insertion, which has funds from the tax allocation to the SolidarityX box of the income statement managed by the Regional Department of the Family Counsel and Equal Opportunities and that has also had the support of the Social Services Center of the Municipality of Totana.

The Acting Mayor, Andrés García, and the President of the Abraham Project Association, Toñi Vilarino, recently delivered, together with the acting Social Welfare Councilor, Javier Baños, at an event held in the plenary hall, the diplomas accrediting the people who have completed the itinerary in the modality of sewing and repair of garments.

This action has taken place during the last weeks in a classroom of the Day Center "José Moyá Trilla" of this town, and has consisted of an occupational training course on sewing and repair of garments with 40 hours, aimed at these people derived by the Social Services Center;

and offer participants job counseling and psychosocial care when necessary.

In addition, materials, tools, machinery and other necessary resources have been made available for this activity;

technically supporting the insertion and necessary actions that facilitate and encourage the acquisition of labor skills in the people served.

The employment project "Walk between fabrics" is funded by the Ministry of Family and Equal Opportunities and aims to improve the employment prospects of men and women at risk of social exclusion in the municipalities of the Region of Murcia.

The workshops of sewing and leather goods developed by Proyecto Abraham have already been carried out in Albudeite, Bullas, Campos del Río, Las Torres de Cotillas, Mula, Murcia, Totana and Pliego with the participation of more than 60 people.

In addition to improving their skills of sewing and arranging leather goods, the project is based on the creation of a personalized itinerary where autonomy and self-esteem are worked, but also the team work among the participating women, most of them immigrants.

The participants carry out these tasks of the reusable clothes in the 19 containers distributed by different points of the urban helmet of Totana.

Likewise, they are trained in another type of skills related to the textile sales sector, such as window dressing, customer service or warehouse management.

Since 1997, Project Abraham develops its social work with groups at risk of social exclusion in the Region of Murcia.

His work focuses on the fight against xenophobia and the labor and social inclusion of immigrants, native and minors.

Totana City Council signed a collaboration agreement with this association that included such training and employment actions for people at risk or vulnerability and social exclusion.

This entity has, among its aims and objectives, to fight against unemployment, social exclusion and any circumstance that undermines the dignity of the person or triggers processes of marginalization, as well as promoting the reintegration or social inclusion of people in this situation.

This initiative sought to collaborate actively, between both institutions, in the promotion of support projects for unemployed and entrepreneurial people at risk.
