The Department of Equality and Defense of the LGTBI Collective Rights of the City of Totana publicly shows its commitment to the eradication of any type of discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity today that commemorates the LGTBIfobia Day.
Precisely, for this reason, this municipal department is promoting this week an initiative of awareness, through the distribution of signage in commercial establishments and restaurants, in this town with the rainbow flag and the slogan "Enough of homophobia! Do not be an accomplice" .
This campaign aims to raise society's awareness of stigmatization for reasons of sexual orientation and gender identity, coinciding today with the International Day Against Homophobia and Transphobia.
Today, May 17, it coincides with the elimination of homosexuality from the lists of mental illnesses by WHO;
and it is for this reason, for which this day is commemorated and the Council manifests its commitment to the eradication of any form of discrimination, hatred or violence for these reasons.
The Department of Equality and Defense of LGTBI Collective Rights, created for the first time this term, underlines that diversity must be real and inclusive, so that respect and visibility are essential for good coexistence.
