Municipal authorities and residents of the neighborhood of San José yesterday attended the act of discovery of the memorial sign that gives the name of Ginés Sánchez Cánovas "El Palomo" to the new green areas and the playground built in the neighborhood of San José, in front of the school public.
In this way, and with this simple act promoted by the Neighborhood Association of the San José neighborhood itself, the plenary agreement reached last Tuesday was met unanimously, and whose administrative file was concluded with this emotional initiative.
The works of the new park in the neighborhood of San José were framed in the Works and Services Plan of 2017, and were carried out from last summer until the end of the previous year.
The park has a fountain, benches, litter bins and numerous furniture and games for the little ones.
The event was attended by family members and neighbors of the honoree, as well as the assistance of the mayor, Andrés García, the first deputy mayor, Juan José Cánovas, the councilman of Works, Services and Municipal Infrastructures, Víctor Balsas, and a broad representation of members of the Totanera Municipal Corporation.
During the same was read the minutes of the neighborhood association in which the request was suggested to the City of Totana and thanked the Department of Works and Services for their commitment and willingness to the neighborhood.
The president of the AAVV, Pedro José Rodríguez, also stressed that it is a special day for the neighborhood to have this infrastructure and honor a person who promoted so many services for the benefit of the neighborhood and its neighbors.
Also participating was a niece of the honoree, Isabel Cánovas Sánchez, who read an emotional poem reviewing the life and service trajectory of Ginés Sánchez Cánovas in the San José neighborhood.
The company responsible for carrying out this action was "Talleres y Conducciones Juanito SL" and have a final budget of 103,052.48 euros;
and the financing of the budget for these works was mostly borne by the Autonomous Community and the totanero Consistory itself.
The residents of Totana chose in their day the construction of this new infrastructure within the framework of the campaign "You choose", which was promoted by the councils of Citizen Participation and Services to the City and Infrastructures.
In addition, the Plenary Session of the City Council of Totana approved, also unanimously, last July a proposal from the Mayor's Office to start the file that would allow staging the act yesterday, giving the name of Ginés Sánchez Cánovas "El Palomo" to this infrastructure of leisure and enjoyment for the neighbors of this area of ​​the urban helmet, the first of these characteristics.
The proposal signed by the councilor, Andrés García, came to respond to the petition presented by the Neighborhood Association of the San José neighborhood on June 19, 2018, in which that initiative was proposed;
that had the adhesion of a dozen entities or social groups.
