The Department of Infrastructure and Works of the City of Totana has requested a grant to the Ministry of Development and Infrastructure to implement the project of adaptation of pedestrian routes that allow the improvement of accessibility in many streets of the San Francisco neighborhood, as reported by the owner , Víctor Balsas.
The request is made under the order of February 27 of this year of the Ministry that regulates the granting of aid to finance actions aimed at the provision of accessible pedestrian itineraries existing in the areas of pedestrian use in public spaces of municipalities of the Region to adapt it to the conditions of accessibility and universal design.
This agreement was approved by the Local Government Board, which included the technical report assessed on the project and the acquisition of the municipal financing commitment necessary to execute said subsidy.
The works of adaptation of pedestrian itineraries for the improvement of accessibility in this neighborhood intends to carry out the adaptation of the pedestrian fords between the streets of Ciudad de Mérida, San Francisco de Asís, San Antonio and Río Guadalquivir, as explained by the mayor Balsas.
The area on which it is intended to act has, at present, several pedestrian crossings on which the encounter with the sidewalk is not executed and does not comply with the applicable regulations.
The project would allow acting on an approximate area of 400 square meters, where the sidewalk does not have the proper pavement, the slopes do not meet the established maximums or there is simply no connection between the pedestrian crossing and the sidewalk.
In addition, the painting of pedestrian crossings is in poor condition, and should be replaced to ensure adequate visibility by users, in this case, pedestrians and drivers.
In the case of granting the aid, the demolition of the fords that do not comply with the regulations would be carried out, for which reason they would be restituted, whose total contract budget would amount to 57,000 euros and the execution period would amount to three months
The works would consist in the dismantling of the vertical signage, the cutting of the pavement of the road for the later demolition of the section of curb and sidewalk to modify;
demolition of the pedestrian pavement of the affected fords;
laying of the tile pavement sitting on the concrete slab with cement mortar;
replacement of curbs and repainting of the pedestrian crossings.
