The Cooperativa Agrícola de Totana (Coato) has held its general assembly in which José Luis Hernández has been re-elected as president with 88.16% of the favorable votes after the scrutiny carried out among the members present.
The governing council has expressed its satisfaction with the support received for its management, both from the fruit and vegetable sector and from the main almond producers, which together represent more than 85% of the co-operative's turnover.
This year, in addition, Coato celebrates its 40th anniversary as a reference cooperative in the Region of Murcia.
José Luis Hernández affirmed, after being re-elected president, that "we have an exciting project ahead so that Coato continues to be the reference cooperative in organic agriculture." Once again, in order to achieve this goal, in the governing council we will integrate all the sensitivities, realities and sections of Coato: grape, almond, honey, pepper, oil, broccoli, lettuce, etc. ".
Together with the election of the president and the governing council, the members of the cooperative have approved the annual accounts within the management report and balance of results for the period 2017-2018 with 88.53% of the votes.
The percentage was higher than that of the last year -then the support of 74% of the members was received-, reinforcing in this way the work carried out by the management of the cooperative.
On the other hand, the balance of activity corresponding to this exercise has been presented to all attendees in the assembly hall that the cooperative has in its headquarters in Totana.
The general assembly of Coato has also served to recognize the most outstanding partners in the various products of the 2017-2018 campaign.
Subsequently, the assembly ended with the requests and questions from the cooperative members.
At the request of the governing council, the assembly of Coato was held in the presence of a notary in charge of drawing up the minutes and collecting the statements on the development thereof, as well as attesting to the scrutiny and result of the final votes.
