The permanent headquarters of the University of Murcia (UMU) in Totana has organized the conference entitled "Flora and forests of Sierra Espuņa, Challenges to climate change", which will take place on March 29, at 7:30 p.m. hours, in the auditorium of the IES "Juan de la Cierva" of this town.
Recently, the extension of the agreement between the City of Totana and the UMU was approved, by which the permanent headquarters of the University Extension in Totana was formalized.
This was launched in 2017 and since then they have organized a concert and an opening ceremony, as well as a conference and an exhibition on the 100 years of the University of Murcia.
On the occasion of the International Day of Forests, which was held on March 21, the permanent headquarters of Totana resumes its activity, and within the framework of one of its objectives, which is the dissemination on topics of general interest, has organized such activity informative
The conference is open to the general public, as well as lovers of the mountains, hikers, cyclists and mountain enthusiasts in general.
The activity will be carried out by two university proferos, Miguel A. Esteve, professor of Ecology at the University of Murcia and Felix Carrillo, doctor in Biology from the University of Murcia and associate professor at the University of Alicante.
This year, the United Nations proposes on the International Day of Forests to emphasize education as an indispensable means to learn to love the forest, and points to its importance to achieve sustainable management of forest areas and advance in the conservation of biodiversity.
In line with this commitment, the university extension headquarters, in collaboration with the City of Totana, wanted to carry out this activity within the framework of the IES "Juan de la Cierva".
