Agents of the Local Police of Totana stopped last February a total of eleven people for various crimes against road safety, according to sources from the Headquarters.
Six of the drivers were arrested for driving a motor vehicle under the influence of alcoholic beverages and exceeding the allowed rates, while two other drivers were arrested for driving a motor vehicle without a driver's license or permit.
In addition, a driver was arrested for a crime of refusal to undergo the legally established tests for alcohol or drug testing, and another for exceeding the allowed BAC, in addition to another crime of lack of driving license.
Finally, the sixth arrested was due to a crime because it exceeded the allowed rates and a crime of reckless driving, seriously endangering the integrity of people in a traffic accident, according to the same police sources.
Chronology of events
The first was located on February 9, at 6:50 am, and proceeded to the identification of a driver of a tourism in collaboration with Civil Guard Totana post, General Páramo Street, being subjected to testing corresponding giving a result of 0.75 mg / liter;
so he was arrested and brought to justice.
The second was on the same day, about 22:15 hours, when they received a notice from the Local Police of Alhama de Murcia in which they reported a van that was traveling on the N-340 towards Totana, invading the opposite lane of traffic , being stopped at the height of the roundabout of the Iris Pottery.
The driver gave off a strong smell of alcohol and was subjected to the appropriate tests giving a result of 0.78 mg / liter;
reason why he was arrested and given to the Detachment of Traffic of the Civil Guard of Lorca.
The third driver was arrested on February 10 when he was driving a tourist on the Valle de Guadalentín street, stopping in the middle of the street and continuing the march abruptly until he finally stopped, showing signs of being under the influence of alcoholic drinks.
Similarly, it was found that he lacked the corresponding driving license.
After performing the appropriate tests, he gave a result of 0.63 mg / liter;
so he was arrested for two driving crimes under the influence of alcoholic beverages and lack of driving license, being brought to justice.
The fourth driver was arrested on the afternoon of February 15, at the Glorieta Adolfo Suarez, when he was driving in a car without any lighting.
The agents signaled him to stop, making the driver ignore him, at first, being intercepted immediately, and observing in the front seat a baby without any type of belt, or restraint system.
Subsequently, the relevant blood alcohol tests were performed, yielding a result of 0.76 mg / liter;
so it was proceeded to arrest and put to court, in addition to being reported for carrying a baby without the child restraint system, infraction that entails the loss of 3 points.
The fifth driver was arrested on the night of February 16 next to the bar "La Báscula", whose events occurred when he was driving in a van doing an anomalous driving, so he was stopped by the agents.
The driver gave off a strong smell of alcohol, being subjected to the appropriate blood alcohol tests and yielding a result of 0.54 mg / liter;
reason why it was denounced administratively with a sanction of 1.000 euros and the loss of 6 points.
In addition, it was found that the driver lacked a driving license, so he was arrested and brought to justice.
Another driver was arrested on February 16 in Panama Street, which was circulating in a tourism along the avenue of Lorca, zigzagging and invading the opposite lane, thus continuing the drive to Panama Street, where it could be intercepted.
The aforementioned driver had a liter of beer in his hand, so he was given the corresponding alcohol tests, giving a result of 1.09 mg / liter;
and being arrested and brought to justice.
Another driver was arrested on February 17, around 8:30 p.m., on the avenue of Lorca, whose events occurred when he performed anomalous maneuvers to park the van he was driving, for which he underwent the corresponding alcohol tests, yielding a result of 0.59 mg / liter.
It was denounced administratively with a penalty of 1,000 euros and the loss of 6 points, proving that it lacked a driving license;
so he was arrested and brought to justice.
On February 20, at 5:00 p.m., at the Adolfo Suarez roundabout, a traffic accident occurred, in which a van collided with another vehicle stopped at a pedestrian crossing, causing significant damage to the vehicle and injuries mild to your driver.
When performing the corresponding breathalyzer tests, the driver of the van gave a result of 0.78 mg / liter, being arrested and brought to justice.
On February 22, at 1:45 p.m., there was a traffic accident on Avenida Juan Carlos I, in the vicinity of Supermarket Day, where a passenger collided with a parked vehicle and in turn hit a pedestrian who was with your baby of a few months in a carriage, getting to overturn it.
Until the place of the event, an ambulance was moved, being transferred to the hospital "Rafael Méndez" of Lorca mother and son.
The driver was given alcohol tests, giving a result of 0.81 mg / liter, so he was arrested for a crime of reckless driving to endanger the integrity of people and overcome the BAC.
On the night of February 22, the driver of a tourist car on Avenida Juan Carlos I was arrested. The events occurred when he was traveling at an abnormally low speed and zigzagging, changing from one lane to another for no apparent reason.
The agents intercepted and identified the driver, who gave off a strong smell of alcohol, carrying out the relevant tests and yielding a result of 1.14 mg / liter, being arrested and brought to justice.
Another driver was arrested on February 23, about 22:00 hours, on Menorca Street, thanks to the citizen collaboration, which provided the vehicle data, thus being able to locate this driver, who was zigzagging, making stops and to the point of colliding with other vehicles parked on the road.
When the vehicle was stopped, at first, the driver wanted to perform the breathalyzer tests, but later refused to perform them and was arrested for the crime of refusal to undergo the tests;
crime that carries a prison sentence of 6 months to a year and deprivation of the right to drive motor vehicles and mopeds from 1 to 4 years.
The last detainee was the driver of a van, on February 24, at around 11:30 p.m., on Avenida Juan Carlos I, when the agents carried out a control of the DGT campaign for the inspection of vans and trucks.
When inspected, it was observed that the driver gave off a strong alcohol odor, being subjected to alcohol tests, yielding a result of 0.90 mg / liter;
so he was arrested and brought to justice.

The Local Police of Totana reminds all drivers and users of the roads that alcohol is present as a concurrent or triggering factor in one third of fatal accidents.
