The Department of Culture remembers that this weekend, on March 2 and 3, the main parades of the Carnival of adults, with local clubs and schools of Totana, thanks to the work of the Federation of Peñas and the associations of mothers and fathers, respectively.

The parade with rocks of Totana will be on Saturday, from 16:30 hours;

and it will cross the avenue of Lorca, Sun, Constitution Square, Bridge, San Antonio, Juan XXIII, Juan de la Cierva square, Ãngel de Novelé, Alberto Gray Peinado and La Santa boulevard.

The participating clubs will be Paper Dreams, Eclipse, Golfos, Gertrudis, El Pistonazo, Los Pinchos, Chapas, Olé, Tiara, Alegría, Los Cachondos, Esencia, Almíbar, Olimpo, I tell you dancing and Sapphire.

At the end of the parade, there will be held, at midnight, the traditional concentration of clubs on the Carnival Party, in the marquee of the municipal auditorium "Marcos Ortiz", where the group and individual costume contest will take place.

For its part, on Sunday March 3, from 11:30 am, the children's parade will be held with the following itinerary: Lorca Avenue, Sun, Constitution Square, Bridge, San Antonio, San Francisco de Asis and Fairgrounds.

Municipal aid

The Local Government Board has signed a collaboration agreement with the Federation of Peñas del Carnaval de Totana for the organization of the program of events of the Carnival of Adults of this year 2019, which included more than twenty festive, cultural and social events.

The City of Totana finances with 7,200 euros to this entity to defray part of the expenses generated by organizing this program, which has been carried out for more than thirty years, although it has been in recent times, after the creation of said federation, in which this festive event has acquired greater social and participative relevance.

Similarly, a collaboration agreement has been signed with the Federation of Peñas de Carnaval for the organization of the parades of children's carnival, both in the parish of El Paretón last Saturday and the participating schools and children's schools of Totana, this next March 3.

Since 1998 the Children's Carnival has been held in this municipality;

and for this year the Federation of Peñas, in collaboration with the educational centers and the Associations of Mothers and Fathers (AMPAS) of the centers of Infantile and Primary Education, have foreseen to organize the mentioned parades, as in previous editions.

The City Council of Totana will grant, as an expression of collaboration, the amount of 2,000 euros, to distribute 200 euros each among the AMPAS of the participating schools Deitania, Santa Eulalia, La Cruz, Santiago, La Milagrosa, Tierno Galván, San José, Reina Sofia, Clara Campoamor Infant School and Guadalentín de El Paretón-Cantareros.

Concentration of masks

The program continues on Tuesday March 5 with the traditional concentration of masks (20:30 hours) in the Plaza de la Constitución and later parades from 21:00 hours to the Plaza de la Maderera, passing through San Cristóbal street , traditional street of the masks in Totana.
