The first deputy mayor and councilor for Economic Development, Juan José Cánovas, along with municipal technicians of the Department of Environment, participate today in the Conference on Circular Economy at the local level organized by the Federation of Municipalities of the Region of Murcia and Ecoembes , the non-profit environmental organization that promotes the circular economy through the recycling of packaging.
The initiative, which takes place in the Assembly Hall of the Economic and Social Council of the Region of Murcia (CES), deals with the circular economy and waste management at the local level, with the assistance and experience of the leading exponents nationwide and international in the matter.
From the FMRM, it is intended to give politicians and municipal technicians, as well as certain people and organizations interested in the subject, a perspective of the current situation and some strategic aspects to follow during the next years betting on the circular economy from the management municipal.
Therefore, it is advisable to promote a production and consumption model that is not oriented towards use and disposal, but is based on reduction and reuse, thus solving current and future environmental challenges and opening up new business opportunities and economic growth.
Circular economy is understood as a resource utilization system where the reduction of the elements stands out: to minimize the production to the essential, and to bet for the reuse of the elements that due to their properties can not return to the environment.
The City Council of Totana already agreed a few months ago to adhere to the "Seville Declaration: The commitment of cities for the Circular Economy", assuming the pronouncements and commitments in the matter of waste management;
so that the municipal plenary ratified to sign this initiative unanimously.
