The Department of Markets of the City of Totana has recently started work on the adequacy of public toilets municipal park "Marcos Ortiz", which have a total budget of 12,523.50 euros, and that will allow full conditioning, as reported by the council of the branch, Gertrudis Ruiz.
The works will be financed by virtue of a subsidy granted by the Autonomous Community for the reform of these facilities, which subsidizes 4,036.60 euros;
while the remaining 10,954.97 euros are municipal contribution.
The Department of Markets attended in 2016 to the call for aid from the Ministry of Economic Development, Tourism and Employment for actions to improve competitiveness in urban shopping centers and municipal infrastructure for the exercise of street vending, since these toilets are employees , to a large extent, by users of the weekly market.
The works, which have an approximate execution period of three weeks, are being undertaken by the company "Viviendas González-Aznar, SL";
and they include the renovation of the ground that is in poor condition and does not comply with the regulations because it is very slippery.
Likewise, all sanitary fittings that are badly damaged will be replaced and the plumbing installation that is in poor condition will be replaced, replacing it with a new faucet.
In addition, existing access doors will be repaired, equipped with a lock and repainted.
The councilor Gertrudis Ruiz explained that these works were very necessary and we welcome this help, although much of the cost is borne by the municipal budget, given that these facilities have been damaged due to the great use that is made of them.
He also recalled that they have undertaken to the suggestions and citizen requests, in reference to the need for improvement both by users of the playground and users of the park itself and the weekly market.
