Accompanied by her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, as well as the First Deputy Mayor and the president of Salus Infirmorum, Mañe Juana enjoyed her anniversary with a family meal at the Venta de la Rat Restaurant

Juana Pérez Martínez or as lovingly known in her family, the "Mañe Juana" surpassed the centenary on August 13, being the thirteenth person who has more than 100 years in the Municipality of Totana.

Of which 11 are women and two, men.

Juana, came to the world in 1918 and her childhood and adolescence lived in the Raiguero (Camino Real) next to the Church where she says that every Sunday she went to mass without remembering many more details of that time in which she lived the Civil War and the hardships of the Post War.

When he was 17 years old, he moved to Totana, near the Judicial Party Prison today, Casa de la Cultura, in the "Casa del tío Ignacio".

He met Nicolás, his husband who was widowed in 1976, 42 years ago.

From that marriage, 3 children were born: Catalina (deceased in 1992), Bartolomé and María Josefa.

She has 7 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren who accompany her and want the "Mañe Juana", who are enthusiastic about her.

Joan and her husband worked long years in the countryside, being emigrants in France at the time of harvest.

He worked more than 40 years (half life) in the Almacén de la Almendra del Señorito Ranchero, retiring in that activity.

Always and despite the difficulties and hardships of life, has focused its existence in positive, collaborating with his family and with people who have had the good fortune to meet and deal with the "Mañe Juana."

Until very recently I walked for a while in that area of Calle Nicaragua and a vitality worthy of envy.

He only regrets the lack of his daughter Catalina who died very young and that, the well-worn old age of Juana has served to keep alive her memory and take care of her five children.

"I'm missing something ..." he commented sadly in the celebration.

His tremendous vitality and his positive and contagious attitude, it seems, is the secret of his longevity that was recognized in the act by his grandson, Bartolo, the president of Salus Infrimorum, María José García and the First Lieutenant of the Mayor of Totana City Council, Juan José Cánovas.

They gave him a Bouquet of Flowers, a parchment of Remembrance and he was made "Partner of Honor" of Salus Infirmorum.
