Totana is the eighth municipality in the Region of Murcia with the largest foreign population, being the largest Ecuadorian and Bolivian, according to data provided by the Ministry of Labor, Migration and Social Security to this municipality.
The totanero municipality is in number of inhabitants behind those of Murcia, Cartagena, Lorca, Mazarrón, Torre Pacheco, San Javier and Molina de Segura.
The percentage of foreign population in the Region of Murcia is 13.67 percent, the third most important in the country, only behind the Balearic Islands and Catalonia.
The most numerous resident nationalities in this autonomous community are those of Morocco, Ecuador, Romania, Bolivia and the United Kingdom.
According to the same ministerial report, the number of workers affiliated with Social Security in the Region in May 2018 amounted to 585,546, of which 93,256 are of foreign origin.
The group of immigrants of Ecuadorian nationality residing in Totana is the most numerous, with more than 3,600 neighbors;
followed by that of Bolivian origin (more than 2,000) and Moroccan (more than 1,600), according to the Municipal Register of inhabitants that works in the Statistics Service of the City of Totana.
In the municipality of Totana there are enumerated according to the latest statistics updated in relation to the distribution of the population a total of 35,254 inhabitants, of which about 10,000 are foreigners grouped in 68 different nationalities.
The largest number of citizens of European origin residing in Totana come from the United Kingdom, followed by Romania, Portugal, Bulgaria, France, Ukraine, Italy and Lithuania.
