The City of Totana has recently joined the socio-health coordination protocol in the care of people with severe mental disorders or drug addiction in the Region of Murcia, promoted by the Ministries of Health and Family and Equal Opportunities.
The protocol has, among its objectives, the full incorporation of Murcia municipalities and non-governmental organizations (NGOs) to socio-health coordination in the care of these people in the most advantageous, open and wide possible conditions.
The approaches of this document are focused on the individual and collective social and health needs of people with severe mental disorder or drug addiction of the Autonomous Community, prioritizing the effectiveness and efficiency of the interventions made by the regional Administration.
This protocol is established based on the conviction that both the health system and the social services try to put people at the center of their attention, both sectors are bound to converge in their respective logics, languages, structures and dynamics to address insufficiencies and dysfunctions derived from a limited and inadequate coordination of their activity.
This initiative advocates to guarantee and universalize the collaboration between the councils involved of the regional government of Murcia, the municipalities and the NGOs that work in these areas of socio-health action.
